Tiny Budget Travel by TRAVLNBIKE

Terms of Use

Last updated: October 24, 2026

DRAFT. These plain-language terms have not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have a lawyer review and adapt them before the app is sold, transferred, monetized, or used outside the United States.

1. Who we are

TBT - Tiny Budget Travel (“TBT,” “the app”) is a free tool owned and run by TRAVLNBIKE (Paul Rudy), Everett, Washington, USA. In these terms, “we” means the owner. The owner may later be an LLC or a buyer; these terms then apply to that owner.

2. What the app does

The app has two options. Average price shows the going rate for a city: a budget-end (25th percentile) nightly price with the median beside it, for a hotel and for an Airbnb-style rental, plus the sourced city lodging tax, added up for the nights you choose. Type your own prices lets you type the prices and fees you see on a booking site and adds them up side by side, so you can see which stay comes to less. It also offers a short check-before-you-book list. The figures in Average price are estimates compiled from public sources named in the app (with links and dates). Hotel numbers are advertised rates or averages across all hotel classes, and Airbnb numbers are 25th percentiles (and medians) of listings. The only number the app fills in for you is the sourced city lodging tax. Fees on Airbnb. Most Airbnb listings now show one all-in nightly price with cleaning and fees included, with only government taxes added at checkout, so Average price adds no cleaning fee and no Airbnb service fee. A few listings still add their own cleaning fee at checkout, so a final total can differ. The Average price numbers are typical year-round averages: off-season can run lower, and holidays and peak season usually cost more. On Type your own prices there is an optional Airbnb service fee percentage box that starts blank: type a percentage only if your listing shows a separate service fee. The app does not estimate resort, parking or other fees: you type the ones you see on the listing. None of it is a live price, an offer or a quote.

Airbnb data attribution. Airbnb price figures contain information from Inside Airbnb (insideairbnb.com), made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). TBT modified the data: it filtered it (entire homes only, by bedroom count and stay length), aggregated it into medians and quartiles by city, and, for cities outside the US, converted it to US dollars (USD) at European Central Bank reference rates dated Sep 23, 2026. The original listing data is not republished. Changes were made, and the result is not endorsed by Airbnb or Inside Airbnb. Airbnb is a trademark of Airbnb, Inc.

What the Airbnb price covers. Airbnb price is for an entire home or apartment, sized to your group. It's not a private room, a room in a shared house, or a guesthouse. Those usually cost less.

Hotel data attribution (cities outside the US). Where shown, hotel figures contain data from the MAQAMI Hotel Price Index, licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). TBT modified it by averaging the monthly medians. The Lisbon hotel figure comes from Instituto Nacional de Estatística – Portugal (Statistics Portugal, average revenue per occupied room across tourist accommodation in Portugal, July 2026), also under CC BY 4.0; TBT modified it by converting it to US dollars. Other hotel figures abroad are single published annual averages, cited with a link where they appear. Taxes and VAT for cities outside the US are not added to the totals, because we have no sourced figures for them; no cleaning fee, service fee or any other fee is added for those cities (see section 2). All prices for those cities are in US dollars (USD), converted at ECB rates dated Sep 23, 2026, and are estimates, not quotes. Bogotá is shown with the Airbnb average only, because we found no sourced hotel average we may reuse; its prices were converted at the single rate of the Colombia’s official TRM (Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia, via datos.gov.co), licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0 for Sep 23, 2026 (the ECB publishes no peso rate). TBT used only that one published rate; the converted prices are TBT’s own calculation. You can also use the app for any city in the world by typing your own prices.

3. Estimates only

4. No booking, no sales

TBT does not sell, book, or take payment for any stay. We are not a travel agent, hotel, or rental host, and we are not a party to anything you book.

5. Outside links

The app links to other websites, such as Expedia (the “See hotels on Expedia,” “Search flights on Expedia” and “Top picks” links), Airbnb (the “Open real Airbnb listings” button, a plain link and not an affiliate link), the data sources named in the Average price results, and the sources listed in the “Check before you book” list. Those sites are run by other people. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, prices, availability, or privacy practices. Links open in a new tab. When you tap one, you leave the app, and that site’s own terms and privacy policy apply (for Expedia, see Expedia’s own terms and privacy policy).

6. Affiliate links

Affiliate link: we may earn a commission at no cost to you. TBT is an Expedia Group affiliate. The Expedia links in the app are affiliate links and are labeled as such. If you book through one, we may earn a commission, and you pay the same price. Affiliate links never change the numbers the calculator shows. Any booking is a contract between you and Expedia or the hotel, not with TBT. We do not use Amazon Associates in this app. See also the Affiliate disclosure section of the Privacy page.

[Owner: confirm the affiliate program’s current terms and have a lawyer review this section.]

7. Using the app

Use it for lawful, personal purposes. Do not copy the app’s name, logo, or design to suggest you are TBT or TRAVLNBIKE, and do not try to disrupt or break it. See section 8 for what you may and may not copy.

8. Ownership and permitted use

What the owner owns. The app’s design and layout, text and wording, source code, calculation logic, and the way the figures were selected, filtered, combined and arranged (the “compilation”) belong to the owner. TBT, Tiny Budget Travel, TRAVLNBIKE, and the logo are names and marks of the owner (trademark registration has not been filed as of the date above).

What you may do. Use the app for your own personal, non-commercial trip planning. Install it to your home screen. Share a link to it. Quote a short excerpt with a link back to TBT.

What you may not do without the owner’s written permission:

Your device stores a copy of the app’s files so the app can work offline. That copy is for your own use of the app and is not a license to copy or redistribute it.

Third-party material is not claimed by the owner. The owner makes no ownership claim over: Inside Airbnb data (CC BY 4.0, © Inside Airbnb), the MAQAMI Hotel Price Index (CC BY 4.0), Instituto Nacional de Estatística – Portugal data (CC BY 4.0), the airport list from OurAirports (public domain; no license is required, and we are glad to credit it), the Bungee font (SIL Open Font License 1.1, © The Bungee Project Authors), or other published facts and sources cited in the app, nor over the names and trademarks of Airbnb, Expedia or other companies. Those stay under their own licenses and owners, and the attribution lines in the app and in section 2 must stay. The owner’s claim covers the owner’s own work and compilation only.

If you want to use any part of TBT beyond what is described here, ask the owner first (see Contact).

[Owner / lawyer: this section is a plain-language draft and is part of the DRAFT notice at the top of this page. Have a lawyer review it, including how it fits the Inside Airbnb CC BY 4.0 terms, before relying on it.]

9. No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” with no promise that it is error-free, always available, or right for your situation. We work to keep the math correct, but you should double-check the total on the booking site.

10. Limit of liability

To the most the law allows, we are not liable for losses from using the app or relying on its estimates, including a booking that costs more than expected. Some places do not allow some limits, so part of this may not apply to you.

11. Changes and ending

We may change the app or these terms, or stop offering the app, at any time. The date at the top shows the latest version. Using the app after a change means you accept it.

12. Governing law

These terms follow the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. (Lawyer: please confirm venue and dispute language.)
